For the second time in every week, the Toronto Argonauts and Hamilton Tiger-Cats will meet on the gridiron for an East Division clash.
The pregame narrative: Get used to seeing these southern Ontario squads up against one another. Some strange scheduling decisions have allowed these teams to see one another 4 times in a five-week span. Toronto won the primary game last weekend, 34-20.
Listed below are our Tiger-Cats vs. Argonauts picks for Aug. 12.
Argonauts vs. Tiger-Cats picks overview
- Tiger-Cats -2 (-110)
- Under 46.5 points (-110)
- Tiger-Cats -2 + under 46.5 points (+255)
Argonauts vs. Tiger-Cats picks
Best bet: Tiger-Cats -2 (-110)
If we told you that the Argonauts had scored just two offensive touchdowns over their past two games, you’d assume they went 0-2, right?
Well, they didn’t. One way or the other, after handing the struggling Redblacks their first win, the Argos rode a trio of non-offensive scores to a 14-point victory over the Ti-Cats.

Oddsmakers are questioning the legitimacy of Toronto’s Week 9 win over Hamilton, and so are we.
The Tiger-Cats did their job on defence, allowing fewer than 300 total yards and only one touchdown to the Argnonauts’ offensive unit. That’s the style of performance we’ve come to expect from Hamilton, which ranks second in net offence allowed (323.9 yards/game).
As for their very own offence, the Tiger-Cats were stuffed with empty threats. They marched contained in the Argonauts’ 25-yard line five times and only crossed the goal line once.

Leading 14-6 at half, Hamilton’s implosion on the road got here due to a security, a blocked punt touchdown and a pick-six. Toronto has forced the fewest turnovers within the league (12), so we don’t see that sort of performance repeating itself within the rematch.
Key stat: Hamilton ran more plays and had more passing yards, more rushing yards and more yards per rush than Toronto of their Week 9 matchup.
Under 46.5 points (-110): These teams cleared their 45.5-point line last week, but that’s only due to the 16 points provided by the Argos’ defence and special teams. Throughout the season, Toronto and Hamilton rank sixth and seventh in scoring, respectively, averaging a combined 42 points per game.
With only two offensive touchdowns scored of their first matchup, we feel good backing the under.
Tiger-Cats -2 + under 46.5 points (+255): We’ll take a sizeable swing here by pairing our two previous suggestions for a potentially hefty profit. A rather safer option can be Ti-Cats moneyline paired with the under (+235), but with such a decent spread we prefer maximizing our price.
